Dalyeun Shim, now 87, was abducted at the tender age of 12 by Japanese soldiers , and was forced into prostitution as a sexual slave during World War II. She was subsequently forced to go to Taiwan and provide services in Japanese military brothels. Physical abuses gave way to mental disorders, causing her to avoid people more than twenty years even after her release. She has not been able to let go to any significant extent the experiences she endured in the brothel. "I can't die without hearing an official apology from the Japanese government . They ruined my whole life", Shim said. Yet, the Japanese government has denied its involvement in this crime since World War II, and has yet to offer any official compensation
